Isaac Newton Institute
In March 2023, the Newton Gateway to Mathematics celebrated its 10th anniversary. This was marked with a short campaign of activity on social media.
On 14th November 2023, the anniversary was celebrated more formally, with an afternoon of talks. The Programme ran from 12.30 until 17.00 and was followed by a drinks and a networking session. After the networking reception participants attended a formal dinner at Clare College.
Talks highligthed the breadth of Gateway activities and some of our key partnerships and successes. These talks covered examples of delivery of Open for Business events in support of INI Programmes, our work through Innovate UK Analysis for Innovators Progarmme and a session where Early Career Researchers spoke about their engagement opportunities through Gateway events and activities.
Registration
The event was by invitation only and registration is now c;osed.
Background
The Gateway is the impact initiative of the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences and reaches out to and engages with the users of mathematics – in industry, business, public sector and other scientific disciplines. It helps to bridge the gap between those engaged in frontier mathematical research and those working in more applied areas, by stimulating the interchange of knowledge and ideas.
The Gateway has spent the past decade connecting mathematical research with industry, businesses, the public sector and other scientific disciplines. You can find more details about the Gateway has been working on the past decade in our 10th Anniversary flyer:
To mark the anniversary in March, to look back at the past, and ahead to the future - Dan Aspel was joined by Newton Gateway Manager Clare Merritt for a brief but insightful conversation.
Further to this, Plus Magazine who report on activities to the wider audience have published a dedicated Newton Gateway to Mathematics webpage which contains articles and podcasts that are part of this collaboration. You can find this page here.
A group photo was taken to commerate the 10th Anniversary celebrations.
