Abstract:

In the 1950's plastics became the magic materials of the future. Versatile in any market and replacing metals, glas, ceramics and wood their production and use grew exponentially. Seventy years later plastics have fallen from grace. What happened and what should be done is a simple question but with a complex answer. A few concepts are presented to begin address the complexity of the issue. How to avoid a dream becoming a real nightmare!
